1. While the CD does contain a few memorable tracks along the lines of Morgan's '80s recordings (including "I'm Better Now" and the silky "Don't You Know"), new jack numbers like "Dancing In Love" and "Can You Give Me What I Want" are about as generic as it gets. The Lady In Me is an album that only Morgan's most devoted followers should acquire.

2. The only single to chart from the album was, "Can You Give Me What I Want" which peaked at #33 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart, staying on the chart for only 9 weeks. It was Meli'sa's last album on Capitol Records.

She was previously a part of the groups Shades of Love and High Fashion. She recorded for Capitol from to , and enjoyed two more Top Ten R&B singles with "Do You Still Love Me?" and "If You Can Do It: I Can Too!".

5. With the exit of her producing and writing partner, Lesette Wilson, Meli'sa bombs on "The Lady In Me". Vocally, Morgan remains in fine shape throughout the CD. However, the majority of the material was very lackluster. The lead single "Can You Give Me What I Want" was catchy but only managed a moderate placing on the R&B charts.
